Profile
Band of Vices serves as a platform for emerging, mid-career & established contemporary artists that matter. Their discipline includes painting, drawing, mixed media, photography & sculpture and their approach is fearless, thought-provoking & unapologetic.
One of the leading contemporary art spaces in the burgeoning West Adams Arts District of Los Angeles, Band of Vices was founded in 2015 by veteran actor & art curator Terrell Tilford. His first gallery, Tilford Art Group (1999-2010) was launched in New York City, then relocated to Mid-City, Los Angeles. Tilford rebranded the gallery as Band of Vices, and along with partners Darryl E. Wash, Melva Benoit & Melvin A. Marshall, opened their flagship location.
In addition to its contemporary art base, Band of Vices also offers rare works by Modern American Masters.
The gallery has been the subject of recent profiles and location film shoots with Academy Award nominee Ava DuVernay & OWN TV, The Hollywood Reporter, Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly, ARTsy, Artnet News, NBC/Universal Television, KCRW, Adidas + Bephie, CurateLA, KCET, Whitewall.Art, the Observer, Art and Cake, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Revolt TV, Black Art in America, Supersonic Art, Culture Hog, Forth Magazine, Artillery, BEYONCÉ.com and other media outlets. They have also partnered with Zoom Communications and TIME magazine for a collaboration. In 2018, Academy Award nominee Ms. Angela Bassett also served as Guest Curator for one of their exhibitions.
