Edwina Whittingham

Edwina Whittingham is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over twenty years of experience. She has extensive practical experience working with diverse populations. Edwina served as the Director of Programs for domestic violence organizations in the state of Florida and Georgia. Edwina worked in a residential treatment facility for women presenting with mental health and substance use disorders, she has worked in medical settings providing counseling to parents of newborns in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and to patients in hospice care. Edwina was employed as a Behavioral Health Clinician with a public community mental health agency where she provided psychotherapy to individuals, groups, and veterans. As a contracted clinician working in a diversion program, she provided bio-psychosocial services to females charged with prostitution. Edwina served as an Adjunct faculty at the University of Georgia School of Social Work, and Barry University, School of Social Work. Edwina is currently providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, couples and families.
Edwina’s areas of focus are physical and sexual trauma, race-based trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, relationship issues, mood disorders, chronic pain and depression, women and LGBTQ+ issues.
Edwina has trained DFCS staff, educators, domestic violence advocates and community members on the effects of domestic violence, the intersection of family violence and child welfare, teen dating violence, women and self-esteem, ethical communication and group dynamics. Edwina is a qualified Supervisor providing clinical supervision to individuals working towards state professional licensure. She received her MSW from the University of Georgia with a focus on culturally competent clinical practice. Edwina is a member of NASW and NBASW, she has also served on the Board of Rainbow Village, Inc. a non-profit agency with a vision to break the cycle of homelessness, poverty and domestic violence.
