Mel’s Fish, located in the heart of the Crenshaw district serves up traditional Louisiana favorites such as red snapper, shrimp, po-boy sandwiches with theirprivate cornmeal batter along with their secret blended seasoning that always keeps their customers coming back for more. Mel’s Fish, started as a small
storefront by entrepreneur and businessman Mel Powell, known for serving healthy, affordable, mouth-watering broiled and fried seafood favorites to the discriminating palate of Southern Californians since 1982.
Over the years, Mel’s distinguished itself from its competition, by expanding their grilled menu to
include healthier options such as grilled salmon salad with its own signature ginger vinaigrette dressing and grilled fish wraps served with their delicious garlic dill sauce. Most of their sides are made from scratch like collard greens with smoked turkey, homemade coleslaw and potato salad, hush puppies and red beans and rice.
Mel’s Fish is currently being run by his daughter, Georgette Powell who took over after her father’s untimely death in 2001.
